Two priests were arrested after being caught having oral sex in a car in broad daylight and in the middle of a busy Miami Beach avenue.
The events happened this Monday around 3:20 pm local time, when elements of the Miami-Dade police responded to a call made to 911 denouncing a "lewd" act that was taking place inside a car. The act was visible because "the vehicle's windows were not tinted," according to Ernesto Rodríguez, a spokesman for the Miami Beach police.
When police inspected the car parked on the iconic Ocean Drive avenue, they discovered Diego Berrio, 39, and Edwin Giraldo Cortez, 30, inside. According to reports, the first was sitting in the passenger car and performing oral sex on his partner, who was in the driver's seat and was "with exposed genitalia."
The priests were so focused on their sexual act that they did not even notice the presence of the police, according to CBS News Miami. “We observe two men having sex in a car. This was in broad daylight, 13th Street and Ocean Drive. The officer had to knock on the window to get his attention,”reads the police report.
The priests claimed to be affiliated with parishes in the Arlington Heights neighborhood, a Chicago suburb. Girlado-Cortez hails from the Cundinamarca province in Colombia and worked in the parish of St. Aloysius and Berrio said he is affiliated with the parish of San Juan Diego.
"The biggest problem I see is that (the act) was in public," said magistrate Jeffrey Rosinek, who set a bond of $ 250 for Berrio and 500 for Giraldo-Cortez, who is accused of lewd conduct and indecent exposure..
The area where they were arrested is one of the most touristy roads in the city and near the arrest there are cafes, restaurants and children's play areas.
