Facebook Appoints Spanish Antonio Lucio Marketing Director

Spanish executive Antonio Lucio joins the Facebook team. The social network just named him chief marketing officer. Lucio - who was previously chief marketing officer for HP - is a strong advocate of diversity in business and in the tech industry. Lucio expressed his satisfaction with the new role and said in a statement: “Purpose and impact have always been central to every professional decision I have made. Facebook is one of the brands with the most impact worldwide and is at an essential moment in its history. I am honored to join this team and support its evolution.”

Lucio also has experience working with renowned companies like PepsiCo and Visa. Facebook Product Director Chris Cox expressed his joy in a post about Lucio's arrival at the company: “I am excited to announce that we have hired Antonio Lucio as our new Marketing Director. Sheryl [Sandberg], Gary (Briggs) and I have worked hard to find the best person for this role and we are excited to announce that we found him. Antonio comes from HP, where he led his marketing team for three years. Before, he was CMO for Visa and PepsiCo. He has an extraordinary reputation in the industry as a leader, a marketing expert, a great operator, and a wise, courteous, and principled human being.”

Cox added that his new colleague is "a force of nature and we are fortunate to have him." The Facebook product manager acknowledged that the company is at a key moment. "We have never faced greater challenges and we have never had more opportunities to have a positive impact in the world: on our families, on our friends, on our communities and on our democracy," he concluded.
