Teacher Kisses 12-year-old Student

Jonathan Vega, a martial arts teacher, was accused of kissing a 12-year-old girl from the Premier Martial Arts Studio school in Miami. The 22-year-old was arrested by Pembroke Pines police in South Florida, who he confessed to "being attracted to girls," according to The Miami Herald newspaper.

The police report details that the incident happened on January 3 when he was left alone with the teenager after an evening class. According to the report, he asked the girl if he could kiss her and did so when she said yes. The incident was not recorded on school security cameras because they were not working.

The teenager told authorities that before the kiss she had chatted with Vega on Snapchat and that her teacher had allegedly told her that he wanted to kiss her and have sex with her when he was older. Vega confessed that she asked the girl not to tell anyone, to delete the conversations they had on social networks and text, and to put another name as their contact on their cell phone. The man said he couldn't resist the minors and that he had had sex with a 14-year-old teenager when he was 18.

Vega attended a court hearing on her case on Wednesday. "You cannot return to your work in the karate studio, you cannot be within 500 feet of where the children are," the judge told her, as reported by the local channel CBS4. For her part, the owner of the karate school told CBS4 that the teacher had been fired. "It is unacceptable behavior," said Jeff Asesor, owner of the study. "These are not the life skills and values that we teach as martial artists."
