Olympic athlete Sanya Richards-Ross reveals in her new autobiography Chasing Grace that she had an abortion weeks before the 2008 Olympics. The Jamaican-born athlete wanted to win the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics. "Everything I wanted seemed to be within my reach," she details in the book. So she chose to abort in the face of the uncertainty of having a baby out of wedlock at a key moment in her career. "What would my sponsors, my family, my church and my fans think of me?" He confesses that he asked himself then.

In his book he says that the procedure itself was quick, but left him in great emotional pain. "I made a decision that tore me apart and would not heal immediately," he admits. At the 2008 Olympics, he won two medals, though not the gold one. His career continued to rise, but abortion affected his marriage. "I always felt a certain resentment against Ross. It was our mistake, but I felt abandoned in the decision”, admits about her partner, who according to her was not present when she had an abortion for going to her team's training.

Ross confessed that he, too, had been hurt by the decision not to bring that baby into the world in 2008. According to his book, praying together and communicating openly on the subject saved their relationship. In February of this year the couple announced to People magazine that they are expecting a baby. "Many parts of our lives seem like a fairy tale, but this is our greatest blessing," the couple told People. "We are so excited to start a family and we are already looking forward to starting this adventure."
