Reshawna Myricks is convinced that her son Darius Smith was killed on a street in Los Angeles by an off-duty border patrol agent. The authorities are not so sure.

According to the Police Department, the 15-year-old teenager had an argument with the agent, who ended up shooting the young man with his official weapon. The name of the agent, who argued that he acted in self-defense, has not yet been released.

According to the implicated, Darius, his cousin and a friend tried to rob him at gunpoint while getting off a public transport in the city of Arcadia.

An explanation that does not convince the boy's family. "He was not involved in a robbery," attorney Lee Merritt, who represents Darius' mother, told local ABC7 channel. “First he shot him twice in the legs. [He fell] and then she got on top of him and shot him three times in the chest. That is murder."

For his part, Los Angeles County Sheriff John Corina said there is a video that appears to support the testimony of the border patrol agent.

"I don't believe what they are trying to say about my baby," the teen's mother told Teen Vogue. Darius's cousin was injured during the incident and received medical treatment, while the friend fled the scene, but was arrested the following day.

According to ABC7, the surviving teens, both 14, now face charges of armed robbery.

"I think they are hiding something. I think they are trying to cover up something,”Myricks told the magazine. “Something happened and we have to get to the bottom of this. They have to show the video."

The teen's mother does not give up and says she will continue to search for answers. "I hope we get justice. I want to sit down with the man who killed my baby, that's what I really want. I want to sit alone with him and I want to know why? I have questions for him."
