A day after being arrested in Florida for driving under the influence, golfer Tiger Woods broke the silence to ensure that contrary to what one might think, alcohol "had nothing to do" with this incident.
"I understand the seriousness of what I did and I assume absolute responsibility for my actions," said the 14-time champion in a statement. "I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved [in the incident]. What happened was a reaction to a prescription medicine. I didn't realize that the drug mix had affected me so strongly.”
The 41-year-old athlete apologized for what happened and its consequences, while thanking his fans for their support. "I also expect more of myself," he said, "I will do everything in my power to ensure that this does not happen again."
