As it had been handled earlier this year, after the immediate departure of Bárbara Bermudo from Univisión, the network has just left several of its best-known reporters unemployed. Among them are the journalists Raúl Striker, in Miami; Jorge Viera, in New York; Enrique González and Angélica Gómez, in Houston, and Luis Zaragoza, in Los Angeles. News director Roberto Vizcón and journalist Gloria Ordaz were also affected in Miami by this measure.

As disclosed by the Media Moves portal, one of the company's senior managers referred to those changes by sending them a memorandum entitled "A New Vision for Local Media."

In this message, he explains that the changes that the chain is undergoing correspond to his desire to "satisfy the changing needs of our audience", as well as "boost growth". To do this, the chain would be making strategic changes in three areas: news, production, and operations and sales.

While the company has just laid off several of the faces known to Hispanic viewers, the executive reported that it will expand its staff of communicators, but in the video area, which will allow them to further boost their news operations.

At the end of last year, the Washington Post had reported that Univisión, the largest Spanish-language television network in the United States, had begun a reorganization process in the last quarter of 2016 that would result in the dismissal of more than 250 employees, that is, approximately 6% of the chain's workforce.
