A visit to a thrift store by a grandmother and her 4-year-old grandson ended in a tragedy when the minor accidentally hanged himself when the old woman briefly lost sight of him.

According to reports from CBS Minnesota, this Saturday, little Ryu Pena visited the Again Thrift and More store in the city of Mankato. At one point, the boy separated from the woman and went into a dressing room where he climbed onto a bench and hypothesized he jumped, but was hooked by the hood of his sweatshirt on a hook of the door, causing his death.

When the grandmother realized that the boy was not there, they began to look for him desperately, inside and outside the store, but they did not find him immediately because they could not see his feet below the under the door.

“He loved being very active, really active. Jumping on the chairs and doing cartwheels and even trying to do break dancing and small dances, he was mischievous,” Denise González, the boy's mother, told the aforementioned news station.

"He was playing. It is the only way I can describe it. I was playing because I was very curious and adventurous, and everything happened very quickly, "said the troubled woman. "It wasn't until [the grandmother] went back inside that he saw someone carrying the child outside."

"We believe the boy got stuck on the inside hook of the locker room area and could not get out," said Jeremy Clifton, Mankato's public security commander. "You have to be aware and be very careful with children at all times, and that this type of thing can happen in the blink of an eye," he advised.
