The social network Facebook has once again served to emit an atrocity.
The most recent brutality immortalized in a Facebook video clip has been a father who hung his little daughter, an 11-month-old baby, from the roof of an abandoned building. The man filmed the moment he took a drink of alcohol, then tied a rope around his daughter's neck and dropped it from the ceiling, Reuters reports. Then he killed himself.
According to Thai police, the man's body was found alongside that of the minor on Monday night in Phuket Town, Thailand, after finding two videos that were broadcast on Facebook, the agency reports.
Officers identified the man as Wuttisan Wongtalay, and the baby, as his daughter Natalee, according to The Gazette in Phuket.
Wongtalay's wife had contacted police shortly after her husband and daughter disappeared, The Gazette reported. According to the newspaper, a relative said that Wongtalay had threatened and tried to hang his wife before leaving the house. According to the police, Wongtalay feared that his wife was about to leave him.
The video was removed from Facebook 24 hours after what happened, but not before causing outrage among users of the social network who witnessed a heinous event.
Facebook had spoken out about this type of violent broadcast last week after another occasion in Cleveland, Ohio, in which the murder of 74-year-old Robert Godwin was broadcast on Facebook Live.
Mark Zuckerberg, creator and director of Facebook, acknowledged "we have a lot to do here," as reported by TechCrunch.
On the Wongtalay incident, a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement that "there is absolutely no place for content of this kind on Facebook and has now been removed."
