Captain Brandon Caldwell, of the United States Air Force, had a very emotional moment when he was received at home by his 9-month-old son Reagan. The baby had started wearing glasses to improve his vision shortly after his father left for Antarctica on a two-month mission.
When the captain returned to his home in New York, the little boy was able to see him clearly for the first time and was very happy. In a video shared by the family, the baby is seen dancing in his father's arms while he sings the children's song “Pat-a-cake” to him. The father is also moved when the baby rests his head on his chest.
Caldwell and his wife Amanda feared that the baby would not remember his father, since he went on his mission when Reagan was very young. But when they saw his reaction when he saw him, they realized that the love for his father was still intact. "You can see how difficult it was for Brandon to be separated from Reagan by the emotion he shows when he can have him in his arms again," said Amanda, as reported by the affiliate of the ABC network in Philadelphia. "Reagan did not hesitate for a second and is delighted to have his dad back home."
The baby suffers from group B streptococcus, a disease that required the use of glasses in addition to bringing health complications such as sepsis, meningitis and seizures, which is why the little Reagan has been hospitalized in intensive care several times, his mother revealed. Having his father now at home will surely be the best medicine.
