Mourning For A Murder Of Celebrities In Venezuela

The murder of Venezuelan presenter Arnaldo Albornoz, well-known in his country, has shocked his fans and generated a duel reaction among the many celebrities who knew him.

The 34-year-old journalist, host of the La Bomba entertainment program, was approached on Sunday by several people who tried to steal his vehicle in an area of Caracas. By putting up resistance, they murdered him.

Ricardo Montaner, Olga Tañón, the members of the Chinese duo and Nacho were among the celebrities who expressed their sadness.

Miguel Ignacio Mendoza, better known as Nacho, shared his feelings in a quite extensive text, in which he criticizes the insecurity that reigns in Venezuela, one of the most dangerous countries in the world.

Arnaldo is a case among thousands of equals in Venezuela, but for him we shout because we know him. I am not going to ask for resignation for his relatives because resignation is what has us like this, enduring more of the same barbarism”.

Tañón regretted that it was a "sadness that they take away the life of this young boy."

While Montaner commented that his death was the product of "violence that is already customary."

Among the most heartfelt messages is that of the journalist Luis Olavarrieta. “Humor was very easy for you and tell me who, Arnaldo, does not fall seduced by a good laugh. You were a producer of good times, you generated confidence in any context.”

The authorities assured that a prosecutor has been appointed to clarify the death of the presenter, who was known as "The most feared of the show business", and had spent eight years working on the Televen channel.

Her murder has generated comparisons with other Venezuelan celebrity crimes such as that of actress Mónica Spear, which have served to illustrate the high murder rate that has been registered in Venezuela for years without the authorities having been able to reverse the trend.

Spear was killed along with her partner on a road in Puerto Cabello with her partner when the vehicle they were traveling in was assaulted by thieves. Her daughter, who was in the back of the vehicle, was the only survivor.
