Rihanna's year-end vacation trip has been dressed in mourning after her cousin Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, just 21, was killed Monday outside her modest home in St. Michael, Barbados.

The singer published a heartfelt message on her Instagram account in which she expressed her sadness in this way: “Rest in peace, cousin… I can't believe that just last night I had you in my arms !!! I never thought it would be the last time I would feel the warmth of your body! I love you always, man.” She also took the opportunity to finish off her message with a label that, translated into Spanish, calls for an end to the violence of firearms.

The story of the cousin of the interpreter of "Umbrella" had not been easy. He lost his mother when he was 6 years old, causing him to be separated from his older sister and younger brother. It wasn't until just six months ago that the three of them had moved in together again. "This clouded our holiday season because this was our first Christmas together," his inconsolable older sister told the Barbados Today newspaper.

On Christmas Day, the three of them had gone to visit their cousin Rihanna, who was spending her Christmas holidays in that country, and when they returned home, a stranger shot her several times while walking near her home.

The circumstances surrounding his murder are unclear, but police said the shooting occurred at approximately 7 p.m., and the shooter fled the scene. Alleyne was transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a private vehicle, but she eventually died.
