The death of a 7-year-old girl in Bogotá, Colombia, has moved not only Colombia but also the entire world.

Last Sunday, Yuliana Andrea Samboni played innocently at the door of her humble home located in the Bosque Calderón neighborhood, north of Bogotá. Hours later, authorities found the child's lifeless body in an apartment located in the exclusive sector of Nueva Granada.

The director of the National Institute of Legal Medicine, Carlos Valdés, revealed to Colombian media that the autopsy determined that Yuliana died after being suffocated and strangled. In addition, the girl was subjected to sexual abuse.

The main suspect so far is Rafael Uribe Noguera, a 38-year-old architect. The National Police arrived at the Navarra Vascular Clinic last Monday night, to notify Uribe of his capture. The man was admitted to the medical center for an alleged cocaine overdose.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos expressed his sadness and indignation at Yuliana's death. "With deep indignation, I condemn the crime against a 7-year-old girl in Bogotá. May all the weight of justice fall on the person responsible. Not one more," he tweeted last Monday.
