Singer Julio Preciado was lucky to find a kidney donor in record time to regain his health: his daughter Yuliana. Unfortunately, not all patients suffer the same fate, and there are many who wait months and sometimes even years to find a compatible donor.
For this reason, the singer has decided to share his experience and use his voice to exhort the public to be organ donors during World Transplant Day.
“I am a kidney transplant and I invite you to give life through organ donation; donate because it is quality of life for everyone,”said the singer through a video posted on his social networks.
Preciado underwent a kidney transplant in January after suffering from kidney failure. The surgery was successfully carried out in Guadalajara, Mexico, and after several weeks under medical observation, the interpreter was able to return to his home in Sinaloa ahead of schedule. He is currently in full recovery under strict medical instructions - and plans to be released in April.
"We are working very well, my levels are stable in all aspects," he said when he returned home in February.
According to the Health Services and Resources Administration, the list of patients who need a transplant grows slowly each year in the United States, adding one patient every ten minutes. Currently, more than 113,000 people are on the national waiting list in this country, many of them children.
