Among the many makeup lines on the market, it is difficult to dare to launch another. But for businesswoman Damaris Rosado, that was never an impediment to making another of her dreams come true, launching her own makeup line. With the launch of Damaris Cosmetics, the purpose of the also motivating Venezuelan is to empower other Latino immigrants like her and show them that everything is possible when you have a vision. We spoke with her so that she could tell us her story, more details about her new adventure and the film that tells about her life and that of her husband, the Puerto Rican writer Juan Rosado.

Damaris, how did the idea of creating a cruelty-free vegan makeup line come about?

This dream arises one day at home, I have always been passionate about makeup and one day I began to study the ingredients and how they were made since I am allergic to some ingredients. Well then that vision came to me and I asked myself this question, why not make my own line of cosmetics? Of course, I want to make it with vegan ingredients and free of animal cruelty. Then other benefits were added to our brand. From there that passion began to strengthen. As I say, 'when you start doing something out of passion and not out of necessity, everything flows'. So I shared that dream with my husband, he loved the idea and said, 'Count on me.' That was the word that prompted me.

How would you describe your line, your lipsticks?

It is a brand that develops according to the needs of each person, our lipsticks are developed with a unique formula where your lips will feel hydrated while [the lipstick] dries with a matte finish.

Until now you only have lipsticks, do you have plans to launch other products? Which?

Yes, we are working to get other products for 2020. [They would be] a palette of shadows, brushes and other little things.

Today there are many brands of makeup, what makes yours different?

What makes Damaris Cosmetics different is that we are not here to compete but to make a difference in each person who uses our products. Our vision is to empower with that unique beauty that characterizes us all.

Since when did you dream of having your own company?

From a very young age. I always grew up with that entrepreneurial mindset.

Was it difficult to achieve?

Of course, all of us who achieve dreams face challenges and difficulties along the way. The important thing is not to let yourself be defeated until you achieve it.

You are a very successful Latina businesswoman, what would you advise other women who want to have their own company or launch a product?

If you have the vision of a company or product, do it. Don't let yourself be won by fear. That is the worst enemy of dreams and the best way to defeat it is with action.

- Your life story with your husband is captured in a movie, what can we see in it?

The movie is called THE GUARD and is based on my husband's life story of overcoming and shows how he was able to overcome the obstacles to achieve success. But not only he, but how he taught me to achieve them too and how together, as a family, we were able to achieve them.
