Everyone knows that recreating a blackface - a form of theatrical makeup formerly used by white actors as a way to mock African-Americans - is an insult to the African-American community in the United States, and it's no wonder. That is why there are already several designers and even artists who have been in trouble for using this technique lightly and in some way making fun of said race. Recall that, in one of the campaigns of his makeup line, Kim Kardashian received much criticism for appearing with his skin much more tanned than normal, and recently we saw how Gucci had to withdraw one of his designs for also hinting at a blackface. Now attacks are coming at Katy Perry for one of her shoe designs.

It turns out that many think that two of the singer's shoe line designs resemble blackface and are very upset by Perry's daring.

There are two pairs of shoes in question, black mules with red eyes and lips, and high-heeled sandals with the same accessories. Apparently the company is going to take action on the matter. As reported by TMZ, the singer plans to withdraw the designs from stores like Dillards and Walmart where they can still be purchased. But as said publication reported, Perry assures that she never wanted to offend anyone with her designs, but out of respect and sensitivity she decided to remove them from the market.

Unfortunately this is not the first time that the artist has been accused of "cultural appropriation". In 2017, she was criticized for weaving African-style braids for her “This is how we do” video and also for her decision to dress up as a geisha for the American Music Awards in 2013.

We believe that the singer should be more careful. Don't you think
