Venezuelan designer Angel Sánchez closed the Miami Fashion Week with a parade of his new collection. "I have enjoyed it a lot, it has been zero stress," he tells Ponte Bella about this sample. "I call it mini couture. I said, 'Let me try to do something more casual, more fun.' Unlike other parades that I show a lot of formal or long dress, I am proposing a collection that is very dedicated to the young woman. It still has a reference from Balenciaga, from Dior, from the 60s and 70s but with today's swing. It allowed me to combine separate pieces. Here I have more pieces that are left to the creative freedom of whoever puts them on”.

Sánchez adds that he also collaborated with New York-based Venezuelan visual artist Joaquín Salim. “ He made some flannels, some graphics, some prints that will be present on the catwalk. It is a fresh and youthful collection, inspired by haute couture,”said the designer, who has a successful track record of more than three decades.

“I became an ally of noble materials such as silk saya, gazares, flannels, sweaters, there are prints that are new, also acrylic laminates, a new embroidery technique with hand stitching. As for the colors, there are black and white, which always accompany me, mixed with a lot of pink and pastels”, he details about this new collection that could attract the attention of millennials.

How do you manage to stay current in such a competitive industry? “In each collection I try to find excuses to have fun and explore territories that I had not explored before in terms of my design. I always put a theme on it. Creative relevance depends on how curious or how critical I am. I am always looking around and trying not to stagnate, he says.

Sánchez assures that his art continues to fascinate him. "I still have the energy, enthusiasm and passion for my work," he concludes. "I don't feel complete yet, there are many things to do."
