If this happens other designers will be able to make shoes with the famous red sole.

Who has not dreamed of having a whole collection of Christian Louboutin brand shoes? In reality, almost all women have or want at least one pair of this sexy shoe, known for its distinctive red sole. The truth is that apart from the striking designs, it is precisely that sole that makes the shoes an object of desire even for the most famous artists in the world. However, that could be ended. And it turns out that the designer could lose the patent that only gives him the authority to make shoes with the sole of that color, prohibiting other designers from putting it on their creations.

Christian Louboutin appeared in a court in the Netherlands to defend the patent and prevent Dutch brand Van Haren from putting red soles on its shoes. But according to allegations, the designer's patent may be invalid.

"A patent that includes color and shape could be revoked or denied due to the laws of the European States," a court adviser told the judges. Which means Louboutin could lose the right to fight other brands that want to make copies of their shoes or that put red soles to their designs.

This fight started in 2012 when Van Haren released a collection of shoes with red soles and Louboutin fought to be prevented from wearing the color. Back then a court ordered the brand to stop producing shoes with red soles. However, Van Haren appealed the decision in 2014. The case was then referred to the European Court of Justice, where Louboutin now appears to be on the verge of losing his right to ban others from wearing red soles. Which could also mean that the sales of your designs drop considerably. Now all that remains is to wait for what the court decides.
