The retired television technician living in Rosarito, Mexico, revealed this weekend to the DailyMail.com site that he learned of the news when he crossed the border between Mexico and the United States through a radio program that congratulated the Dukes of Sussex for The sweet wait.

"I was sitting in line to cross the border when I heard the baby announcement on the car radio," said Markle, 74. "I thought 'My baby is about to have a baby.' It was a moment filled with happiness."

Although Markle assures that he did not receive a call from his daughter, he does not seem to have resentments. "I was filled with love, joy and happiness for both my beautiful daughter and my son-in-law," said the future grandfather. "A new baby is a blessing and I look forward to seeing a little Meghan or a little Harry."

At the time of the duchess's pregnancy announcement, she assured herself that Doria Ragland, Meghan's mother, was "very happy with the adorable news and looking forward to receiving her first grandchild."
