Amid the sweet wait for her second child, Ana Patricia Gámez is going through a hard time in her life. The father of the co-host of Despierta América (Univision) has been battling cancer for two years and the fight continues, the Mexican confessed during an emotional talk at the Hispanicize event in Miami.

In August 2016, Ana Patricia between tears spoke for the first time about the illness suffered by her father. "It is not an easy process, it is a difficult process for the whole family, the word cancer reduces everything that can be happiness, emotional peace," he said live on the program in the morning that he leads with Karla Martínez, Alan Tacher and Francisca Lachapel. "When we are in my case, at a distance of thousands of kilometers, it may be more difficult to bear this, but I have found a way out in prayer, in God and in faith."

To be closer to her family, despite having a busy schedule with driving, Giulietta's mother constantly travels to her homeland, Sonora, to be with her father and family. During these trips she also takes the opportunity to help the neediest in her city, a promise of love that she professes as an ambassador for Remitly.

As for the treatment of her father, the ex-queen of the finalist of Mira que baila (Univision) announced a few months ago that her father had gone through a second stage of chemotherapy.

“He is reacting very well, he does not have side effects every time they are given, and with a lot of faith in God he will get ahead. We are there, always asking for your prayers and that you join us in that, which is the most important thing,”he told Mezcal Ent.

What has this experience taught you?

All of us always complain sometimes about things that perhaps we see as great at the time, but when it is a health issue it does make us see life in a different way. It is always a good time also to be united as a family. Also in my case I am on this side, I do not have the opportunity to be with him as much as I would like because I have to work. I am covering the costs of his treatment, so as a family he has united us all very much and positively, with great faith that we will succeed.
