The Mexican production company Carla Estrada has already started the search to choose the protagonists of the new version of El privilegio de amar, the successful soap opera that starred Adela Noriega and René Strickler in 1998 and that will now be made in serial format as part of Fábrica de Sueños, Televisa's ambitious fiction project that updates some of the most successful melodramas of the last decades in serial dramas made in formats of no more than 30 episodes with the highest production standards.

The first casting took place last week at the Televisa San Ángel facilities and, as reported by the journalist Álex Kaffie through social networks, he had the presence of renowned soap opera protagonists, including Gabriel Soto, who is currently recording in Mexico the successful romantic comedy on Televisa Soltero with daughters, Lucero and Ernesto Laguardia.

“Lucero, Ernesto Laguardia, Gabriel Soto and Carlos Ferro appeared at the audition. The selection of the cast was attended by the producer Carla Estrada”, Kaffie reported through her Instagram profile.

If he finally stayed on the project, the new version of El privilegio de amar would mark Lucero's expected return to soap operas since the last time he led a melodrama was in 2012 when he played Helena Moreno in Por ella soy Eva.

The new version of The Privilege of Loving will now revolve around Mariana, a young woman who grows up in luxury in the Guadalupe Valley until, after her father's death, her stepmother banishes her.

Mariana crosses the border in La Bestia and manages to be welcomed by a priest who supports migrants and helps her settle with a family in eastern Los Angeles.

There he meets the womanizer Luis Alberto, but love transforms him. They have a son and someone kidnaps him, making Mariana dedicate her life to supporting migrant children.

After several years, her stepmother returns to take revenge on Mariana by manipulating her lost son so that he breaks into her home and kills her.

In addition to The Privilege of Loving, Televisa will make two new versions of successful melodramas next year: The Rich Also Cry and The Hex.
