Costco wholesale stores are synonymous with food, beverages and other products packed in bulk. With branches in Latin America, Canada, and even China, they are immensely popular with large families and small merchants for large supplies.
But do you know why when you leave one of them they ask you to show your ticket or purchase receipt and they count the products in the shopping cart?
The answer is that this way Costco avoids the “ ant robbery ” of products and the losses that this causes. The point is that the products Costco sells come packaged in such large quantities that even one or two that are stolen means huge losses for the company.
But that is not the only reason: in the past some people left the warehouse and after checking their cart they returned, returned to place the same products that they had bought and returned to the exit of the store showing the receipt and pretending that they had already paid. That's why Costco added a second security filter: put a line on the ticket that indicates that the merchandise has already passed through the door.
According to the specialized site Quora.com, the employees who stationed at the doors of each Costco are so well trained to identify and count the products that they can check a cart with a few ra in about four seconds!
