Laugh At Girl With Cancer

Iliana Bellard, a 10-year-old cancer patient, was the victim of cruel teasing in a beauty salon. The girl went with her mother to Imperial Salon & Day Spa in Stafford County last week, hoping to have a relaxing and joyous day. The idea was for the girl to enjoy the beauty treatments of the place and feel pampered. According to her mother Elizabeth Bellard, this was her daughter's first public outing after finishing her chemotherapy treatment.

The girl was diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma and had lost her hair. The mother wrote a message on Facebook expressing her outrage. "I am so upset. Iliana and I wanted to have a mother and daughter date. I took her to do her nails. She has been counting down the days for over a week [to go to the classroom]. We are here and the nail grooming girls tell him over and over that he looks like a boy. Leave my daughter alone. Now she is with her head on the table waiting for them to finish.”

The mother explained to the spa employees that Iliana had short nails and hair from her cancer treatment, but apparently they had no sensitivity. "They called me a boy," Iliana told the WJLA television channel. "I felt a little embarrassed."

The mother stressed that they did not stop making fun of her daughter, who should be celebrated for her bravery in the face of this devastating disease. "They call her a miracle girl because they didn't expect what happened," Elizabeth told WJLA. "She is definitely a warrior."

The family created a GoFundMe account in November to help Iliana fulfill one of her dreams. The girl expressed her desire to make 'slime boxes' to water other cancer patients and thus make them smile. Donations are to help with the materials in the slime boxes. On December 20, the girl will go to UNC Chapel Hill Hospital to slime with other child patients for Christmas. This girl's heart is immense and the bullying against her has caused outrage.
