An employee of the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles is being investigated for allegedly supporting the shooting of immigrants at the border in a social media post.

The employee , Lori McAllen, was fired Thursday from the Oregon Department of Transportation after her Facebook post on immigration sparked backlash, the Oregonian newspaper reported.

"I personally think everyone on the border should be shot, and that's good," according to a McAllen comment in a Facebook post, as screenshots circulating on social media show. “It will save us billions of dollars in our taxes on hard working AMERICANS!;)”.

His comments were in response to the Trump administration's controversial policy of separating migrant children from their parents.

McAllen's post was quickly duplicated and denounced via social media, outraging netizens, who asked to be fired.

"I ask for the immediate dismissal of #LoriMcAllen. This horrendous post is an abomination,”wrote a Twitter user. "Remember that we are all immigrants, like her ancestors before her, we all arrived in a boat, boat, car or plane."

The Oregon Department of Transportation announced Thursday that the employee was suspended for an "offensive Facebook post," although the agency did not refer to McAllen by name.

"We are aware of a publication that has circulated rapidly through social networks, showing offensive and abhorrent comments that do not go down the values of our agency," wrote the DTO on Twitter. "There is an active investigation into the matter. Thanks to those who shared their concerns and we take this matter seriously.”

According to the news portal Heavy, in an alleged conversation with another friend, Lori McAllen apologized and says she was pretending to be "funny" when she made those comments. Since then she has deleted her Facebook account.
