Uber driver John David Sánchez, 54, was sentenced last September to eighty years in prison after being found guilty of multiple charges of sexual abuse, including rape of a 33-year-old female passenger in the city of San Diego, California.

According to CNN in a revealing investigation, Sánchez is one of the more than 103 drivers of the renowned company who have faced charges or accusations of sexual abuse of their passengers in the last four years. A constant in these cases is the state of drunkenness in which the users of the service were who reported that they had been attacked.

The information revealed by CNN is a setback for the flagship company of the sharing economy, since one of its major advertising claims has been the "security" of its transport service.

The same president of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi, told the chain that his "new priority" is to prevent and eliminate any sexual risk for users of its service. "It is a priority that I hope remains the most important," she added.

Despite the fact that drivers must agree to the terms and standards that are imposed on them when they start their work with the firm - which include avoiding any type of sexual contact with users - multiple Uber employees have declared to the chain that at no time do they receive sexual harassment and abuse training.

Within the same investigation, it is also added that there are at least 18 cases of drivers from the Lyft firm who have also been accused of sexual assaults in the last four years.
