Several areas of Peru are still in a state of emergency due to the El Niño Costero phenomenon that has brought heavy rains since the past weekend and, therefore, the overflow of rivers as well as large mudslides in the northern area of the country. Human losses have increased in recent days and 72 deaths were reported in the local media.

As Peru needs donations and volunteers, many countries have mobilized to raise funds, clothing, food, first aid kits, mattresses - among other necessary products - for the victims.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has arranged for our embassies and consulates, distributed on all continents, to open bank accounts in order to receive donations in favor of the victims, so that our compatriots abroad, as well as people of good will, they can offer their support,”the Peruvian Foreign Ministry reported in a statement.
