First came the protests, now comes the demand.
Just a few weeks ago, the Rivera family began protesting in front of some Univision events over the broadcast of their series Su Nombre era Dolores, La Jenn Que Yo Conocí, which is based on a book written by their former manager Pete Salgado. Now the company that the late Diva de la Banda founded while still alive, Jenni Rivera Enterprises, is suing Univisión for not being broadcast last month and the Rivera dynasty did not give its approval for its realization. The family - led by the executor and younger sister of the singer, Rosie Rivera - do support another series about the life of Jenni, Mariposa de barrio, which would premiere in a few months on the rival network, Telemundo.
According to the TMZ portal. com, the lawsuit alleges that Salgado, who was Jenni's on-and-off manager for many years, would have violated the nondisclosure agreement he drew up with Jenni, so “his collaboration with the producers of the weekly television series is a blatant violation of that contract."
Jenni's company also points out in its lawsuit that Univision promoted the show as a look at the star's life through Salgado's eyes and that the series, according to them, is full of defamatory scenes about her and her five children.
We are trying to get Univision's reaction to this lawsuit, but its Public Relations department has yet to respond to our messages.
