Carlos Vives Denies Evo Morales

The official Twitter account of Bolivian President Evo Morales shared on December 11 an image of the singer Carlos Vives in which he is seen holding the Bolivian flag and shows his support for the historic claim of the country in its conflict with Chile to obtain an exit to the Pacific ocean.

"I come from Santa Marta and we have a lot of sea there to share with the Bolivian brothers," says the text along with the hashtag #MarParaBolivia.

In the message Morales thanks the singer-songwriter. Thank Carlos Vives for his feeling of solidarity with our historic cause of return to the sea. The sea, a world heritage site”, wrote the president.

The problem is that representatives from the Vives office assure that this image is totally false. "That photo is not real," a Colombian spokesperson exclusively told People en Español. "Carlos has never spoken about that topic."

Bolivia has been in dispute with Chile since it lost its coastal strip and a large part of its territory to the neighboring country in the Pacific War in 1879. Since then, a long list of negotiations have been carried out and the matter is settled at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, without, at the moment, both countries having found an agreement.
