The victory of Kiara Liz in Mira who dances All Stars caused a lot of controversy, that's why People en español set out to find out who El Trotamundos is and what will happen to the 25 thousand dollars he earned in Puerto Rico.
Who you are?
I am El Trotamundos and I believe in the transforming power of music, embrace and love. I have been traveling around the world for 18 years to help children in special communities using music as a vehicle and bridge. We have already visited 28 countries and we are grateful to walk this planet.
How did the idea come about?
Our headquarters is Puerto Rico, we started 18 years ago with a music show for the family in the theaters. After three years the opportunity arose to visit Peru with a group of doctors and that's where I met a boy who asked me for an ice cream and didn't want to bite it because it was running out. And that night on May 28, 2008 my mission was born.
The crying [of seeing the boy] lasted for two weeks, but I never cried with that intensity again because I found peace in the action. I transform reality into many other things. I increase the volume to love. Imagine a family that slept on the floor and beds and mattresses arrive.
What have you accomplished with your organization?
We have built wells, houses, we have given backpacks and we have visited hospitals. I always ask them what do you need? and we respond to the need of the individual. I've been working with a community in the Dominican Republic and Haiti for five years, where we made a well and [the children] don't walk that many miles anymore. We are going to build 50 homes and we have 30 left to build and that thanks for the donation of Kiara Liz that will be achieved. There are already 20 houses built and with Kiara's donation 2 or maybe 3 houses will be made in Bánica. Each house costs 5,000. The rest of the donation is to work with the earthquake victims in Puerto Rico.
