Salma Hayek And Eugenio Derbez In How To Be A Latin Lover

Salma Hayek and Eugenio Derbez are sending out a warning to actors Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler as they get ready to take the comedy spotlight in their newest film “How to Be a Latin Lover” (3Pas), coming to theaters on April 28th.

The funny flick centers around an aging gigolo, played by Derbez, who is dumped by his wealthy, elderly wife for a younger man and then has to move in with his estranged sister, played by Hayek. Other cast members include Raquel Welch, Rob Lowe and Kristen Bell.

The two Mexican actors are now gracing the latest issue of People en Español and talking about joining forces to show the power of laughter. Hayek and Derbez had spent years trying to come together in a film project but had a hard time syncing their busy schedules -until now. “We wanted to work together for a long time. We've been talking about it. As you know, getting Latino things on the air, it's not easy. [Eugenio] was too busy. He couldn't get out of contracts. Believe it or not, it was' I'm sorry, I cannot go to American television. I'm booked for the next 10 years. ' Now after 10 years, we finally get to work together,”says the actress.

Adds Eugenio: “When we were writing the script, we thought that Salma was perfect but I was like: 'Wait, what if she can't? We're going to be in trouble, 'and we were in trouble.”

However, using his skills of persuasion, Derbez was able to get the actress to co-star in the film. Their brother and sister dynamic in it, says Hayek, is “perfect” for them.
