After working at the famous toy company Mattel (yes, the creators of Barbie) for almost 17 years, Lily Martínez, Mexican mother of 4 children, decided to create her own blog where she could share everything from her pancake recipes to the best costumes for Halloween of their children and now thousands of followers are witnesses of the adventures of this large family in their day to day.

Taking advantage of the fact that Lily is the image of the Making Memories campaign of the Claire´s accessories stores, we interviewed the blogger mom who succeeds on Instagram, now also with the account of her little daughter, Selina (@Seliloves). It's to eat it!

What makes your relationship with your little daughter unique?

The experience of having a daughter has been very different from that of having three sons. She has three older brothers and although I love and adore my children it is a different energy than having a girl. […] Having a daughter is something magical, [… that bond of mother and daughter is very special.

What kinds of things do you do together?

We do yoga in the morning and she likes to help me make the pink pancakes … that's our routine. And the park could be in the park all day long.

Your daughter is a fashionista and even has her own Instagram account. What advice do you give her as a mom and blogger?

I administered it to her and her father and I are the ones who took the photos. I really like having that account for her because it is a way of capturing special moments, memories that I will always have in my heart and it is really a way of seeing how she has progressed, how she has grown, how her tastes have changed […] and then show it to him.

As for fashion and beauty, is there something you would not let her do or something you would never let her wear?

For Selina there are really no limits. The only limit is that she remains a girl. I don't necessarily like to dress her as an adult, although she does have some items that are like a mini version of my closet, but I really like that she has her dresses, bows, patent leather shoes, that she's a girl and that she has fun with what she chooses to wear.

Already have a favorite accessory, garment or style?

Definitely. Like his plastic bags, he likes to put all his little toys in his bags and carry his bags wherever he goes and also his teddy bears. He is fascinated by pandas. What you are wearing is not complete if you do not bring those accessories.

You collaborate with Claire´s in the campaign "We Make Memories", what is your first memory related to Claire´s?

The ones I remember the most are two: one when I was in high school, I loved to go and buy little things to accessory my look to go to school. I went with my friends and I liked to buy there, especially the earrings. Then when I had my daughter, it was when Selina's earrings were going to be made. Her father and brothers went to Claire´s. I didn't want to see him cry.

Is it important for you to instill the Mexican culture in your children and in your home? How do you get it or how do you try it?

For me, our culture is very important. We are from Mexico and we always try to instill our culture in our children with food, with the games we play, with the language. One way that we really like is that once a week we play a game called the lottery and it has cards with images and it is a lot of fun to teach an introduction to Spanish and it is a way to connect with culture. That will never go away, we have it in our hearts and blood and we are passing it on to our children.
