Commercials are very important when deciding on a beauty product. And is that when we hear that a cream will help you get rid of wrinkles or that a shadow will remain intact for more than 12 hours, we want to run to buy it. However, when the claims in these ad campaigns create the wrong expectations, the companies can get into trouble. That is the situation that Estée Lauder is going through and that has its chief executives very sorry.
It turns out that the company realized that the evidence supporting the claims that appeared in advertising campaigns for some of its products was altered. That means that the results the ad promised were not necessarily true.
"We have learned that some of the evidence related to the claims appearing in our commercials has been intentionally altered by a group of employees," company CEO Fabrizio Freda, who also apologized for what he said, told Bloomberg.com. happened. "We are sorry for what happened and we take full responsibility."
Although the products in question were not disclosed, Freda assured that some of the claims would be reviewed in order to correct any false promises. In addition, it ensured that the products in question did not represent any risk for consumers.
