The jewels of the British crown have made rivers of ink flow. And not only for the luxury of their pearls, diamonds, sapphires and emeralds but for the meanings that each one has, the moments in which each member of royalty has worn them and, most importantly, who wears them now.

Without going any further, the ring with which Prince William asked Kate Middleton to marry, a huge twelve-carat blue sapphire surrounded by fourteen solitaire diamonds and 18-carat white gold, is the same one worn by Diana in her engagement to the Prince Charles.

But without a doubt the most emblematic jewel that Princess Diana wore and has now become the favorite of the future Queen of England is the Windsor tiara, also known as Cambridge Lovers Knot or Queen Mary Tiara. According to PEOPLE reports, the crown was a loan from Queen Elizabeth as a wedding gift and after the divorce of Charles and Diana in 1996, the princess had to return it.

Since Diana died in a car accident on August 31, 1997, the Tiara was never seen again until Kate Middleton chose her for a gala dinner in December 2015.

The famous tiara is an impressive gem with a line of bead-shaped pearls that is just over a hundred years old and commissioned by legendary queen Garrard jewelry from Queen Mary. It is said that this was her favorite piece, but, as reported by Hola magazine, Diana came to recognize that she even had a headache because of how big it was.
