Supermarkets in Atlanta, Georgia, and New Orleans, Louisiana reacted with tears, joy, and enormous surprise when, when they went to pay at the register, they were told that they owed nothing because someone had already paid for them.
Who should they thank? Nothing more and nothing less than actor and director Tyler Perry.
The TV and movie mogul paid for the purchases of hundreds of people who attended 44 Kroger stores in Atlanda and 29 Winn Dixie stores in New Orleans during designated morning shopping for seniors or those with special needs.
Although his wish was to remain anonymous and for the gesture to be attributed to simply an "Atlanta angel," People confirmed that Perry was responsible.
"He wanted to do something special to provide immediate relief to the most vulnerable in two of the cities he considers home," a source told the magazine.
This is not the first time that Perry, who is known for his generosity, reaches into his pocket to share his fortune during this pandemic. Days before, he gave a take-away tip.
