Her acclaimed role in On your feet !, the Broadway musical in which she plays Gloria Estefan, has led her to stardom. He spoke with the actress descent cubanosalvadoreña Ana Villafane how he stays fit, their homemade beauty tips and projects you want to work.

How do you feel about the success of the work?

It has been incredible. I did not expect the reception we have had. I grew up loving the music of Gloria Estefan. It is the best when you meet someone who has been your great role model and have the opportunity to put yourself in their shoes, tell their story and pay tribute every day.

In the show you don't stop dancing and singing, how do you take care of yourself physically to be able to keep that rhythm of work?

[I go to the gym every day. I like to sweat, take classes. I do many kinds of resistance. Squats are number one [for me]. [I also] love spinning and weights. I do a lot of yoga because it helps me open up and helps my voice.

Do you also diet?

Broadway is the best diet because you have to be healthy to maintain your voice and strength. I eat gluten-free [food]. Most of the time, unless there is a special occasion, I just eat lean meats and [drink] green juices.

And the skin, how do you take care of it?

I have to hydrate like crazy to sing, so I drink a lot of water and coconut water. I give myself steam for the voice and that also has great benefits for the skin. I use Jurlique's moisturizing oil. It's extraordinary. [Also] I make sure to wash my face. I use Neutrogena cleaner. I have three types and I rotate them.

Do you have a homemade beauty recipe?

Once a month I use coconut oil [on my hair], leave it [for a while] and then rinse it off. I do that by leaving a spoon in the freezer and then I put it under my eyes. It really works.

Going into fashion, how do you define your style?

Either I'm dressed from head to toe in gym clothes [and] in tennis, or [I'm going] in heels. I have no middle ground. I love tennis. I have a great collection of Nike and Adidas.

What pieces do you like the most when dressing?

When the back of a suit is open, that seems very sexy to me. If I'm wearing a floral and feminine dress, then I wear my Dr. Martens boots, which are black and large. I like feminine things mixed with [something] masculine. I like things to be a little bold. I'm really bad at buying basic pieces, but I can find a beautiful floral jacket at a vintage store. I love [everything] vintage.

Has doing the work changed your way of dressing in any way?

I am really enjoying high-waisted jeans. I think playing Gloria has made me [interested] more in them. I had never bought a crop top until I started doing the show.

What comes after you finish this staging?

I am open to everything. I want to tell great stories [in movies] and I want to bring to life real-life characters, like Gloria, who have an impact [on people] and who they are without compromising their integrity.
