It's been a little over a month since the death of Victoria Yireh, the daughter of singer Wisin and his wife Yomaira Ortiz.

His friend and salsa artist, Gilberto Santa Rosa, said the reggaetonero is “at peace” after the passing of his 1-month-old daughter, who was born with the genetic disorder Trisomy 13. Wisin and Santa Rosa had the chance to catch up as Wisin returned to the stage in the United States on October 9th.

“He seemed at peace,” Santa Rosa told People en Español after running into Wisin at a concert celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in Tampa, FL, which also included a performance by J Balvin. "What happened is not easy for anyone so my respects for him, for his wife, his family [and] for showing such strength as they faced it all."

A veteran of the entertainment industry, Santa Rosa knows only too well that even in tradgedy the show must always go on. "This job is very hard sometimes because it does not allow breaks, and I know it's hard for him to have to handle this situation and continue to fulfill his commitments."

"My respects for him," I added.

Santa Rosa spoke to People en Español days before the La Salsa Vive concert that will take place this weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Wisin and his wife Yomaira Ortiz announced on September 6th that their daughter Victoria was ill. They learned of the illness when Ortiz was 5 months pregnant, and although doctors offered the option of abortion, the couple stood by their Christian faith and decided to bring their third daughter into the world.

Wisin took to social media to share the family's journey from the moment the baby was born, documenting their courageous battle in the hospital, the tattoo in honor of Victoria and finally, her final days before passing.

The tragedy unleashed a wave of solidarity for Wisin and his family from his fans and colleagues, who flooded the singer with messages and expressions of support.
