Cassie Barker, a former Mississippi state police officer, could face up to 20 years in prison after her daughter Cheyenne Hyer, just 3 years old, lost her life suffocated by being left inside a patrol for hours while she had relationships with your supervisor.
Last Monday, March 18, the 29-year-old woman pleaded guilty to the charges against her, after the incident that cost her daughter's life in September 2016. Although at the beginning of her trial she was accused of Second degree murder, his charges were changed to manslaughter.
According to details about the case revealed by People magazine on her online site, after her workday ended, the then Long Beach police officer went with her daughter to the home of Clark Ladner, her supervisor.
Barker left the girl inside her patrol with the air conditioning on, since the temperature at that time averaged 100 degrees. The woman entered her supervisor's residence without noticing that the car's air system was not venting cold air.
After the ex-officer had sex with her boss, she fell asleep for several hours and when she returned to the car she found her daughter unconscious. The little girl would have arrived at a nearby hospital and her body temperature has reportedly reached 107 degrees.
After accepting guilt in the death of her daughter, the judge in charge of the trial must deliver the sentence that will be imposed on the woman on April 1. Prosecutors working on the case have recommended that he be sentenced to 20 years in prison.
