Police in Upper Oxford, Pennsylvania revealed Wednesday the shocking discovery of 4 minors who were found in a house infested with worms, sewage, feces and dead animals. The situation of abandonment in which the children lived is so severe that it is now classified as perhaps the worst case of child abuse in the history of this town.

At a press conference, Robert Kirby, corporal of the State Police assured that the discovery was made this Tuesday night inside a residence located in the block 100 of Street Road after a person discovered one of the children playing on the street near his house.

When the police arrived at the house, a Dantesque scene was discovered. "Inside the residence there were approximately four inches of [waterlogged] water from the basement, insects, worms, flies, fleas, and feces throughout the residence," Kirby explained.

There they discovered 3 children living with two adults. The children had blackened eyes, but the reason for the condition has not been specified so far, according to ABC-6 Action News in Pennsylvania.

The Brandywine Humane Society (SPCA) shared this post on Facebook raising funds to benefit the pets that were rescued from the site:

As if that were not enough, they discovered rabbits, dogs, a chicken and a pig, all dead and in a state of decomposition, as well as 25 other pets in poor health. They also found several rifles in the garage of the house.

"No child, no adult, no animal should live in that house. That's bad, "said Kirby.

The children were immediately removed from the home and placed in the care of relatives. For now the police have opened an investigation for animal abuse while opening a file for child abuse.
