To the amazement of many, the representative of Venezuela, Mariam Habach Santucci, was left out of the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.
Upon returning to her native Venezuela, the 21-year-old met a television program and spoke about her experience in the contest.
"The Trump era was perfect because the best man was winning," Mariam told the show. "I think that now the Miss Universe gave a change for women with a history, something different that would be like a little more Miss World and not the Miss Universe that all Venezuelans are used to seeing. I had a lot of fans. I was highly praised there. I think the great support was from the Filipinos and I thank them because when one position was missing [among the semifinalists] everyone shouted 'Venezuela'”.
During the 65th edition of the Miss Universe, the French Iris Mittenaere, 24, was crowned the most beautiful woman in the universe. “I am a very good loser, I am who I am and [know] what I am capable of doing. I have an extraordinary family that tells me that if it is not for me, it will not be … that something better will come, "she said.
