Maria Antonieta has gone down in history as the most glamorous and whimsical queen of French royalty. Her excesses, obsession with desserts, wigs and the most fabulous costumes are the first things that come to mind when you think of the queen and now, 225 years after her death, some of her most precious treasures are up for auction: your jewelry.

The highly anticipated auction will take place in Geneva on November 12 at the headquarters of Sotheby's, the house that has gained access to more than one hundred lots of jewelery that belonged to the Bourbon-Parma family, including nine pieces of the famous Queen to be shown to the public for the first time at this auction.

Among the most prominent pieces are some diamond pendants with an oversized pearl that is known as the Pearl of Maria Antonieta and has a value between 900,000 and 1,700,000 dollars, or these pearl and diamond earrings that are among the 30,000 and 50,000 euros. Without a doubt one of the pieces that will raise the most sighs will be an impressive necklace with more than 300 pearls, above $ 200,000.

The only heir to María Antonieta and Luis XVI who survived the Revolution, her daughter María Teresa, was the one who received the jewels from her mother and took them out of France in 1791. Maria Teresa was released after spending three years in solitary confinement and was sent to Austria. As she had no descendants, the heiress left this legacy to her niece and her adoptive daughter, who later gave it to Roberto I of Parma.
