In the fashion world it is very common for designers to take ideas from each other, but sometimes it can be interpreted as plagiarism rather than point of inspiration. Over the weekend, we observed that designer Stefano Gabbana, from the Dolce & Gabbana brand, uploaded a photo to his personal Instagram account comparing shoes from the 2017 Chanel collection to very similar designs from his 2014 brand with the title "Interesting". The photo originally came from the @whodiditfirst account dedicated to making designer comparisons. "It is just a repost," added the designer in the photo.
But the comment fell a little aggressive.
Two days later @whodiditnow uploaded another photo with a Dolce & Gabbana design, this time emphasizing that it was actually the Italian duo that had been copied much more obviously from another designer.
"Ok that's true!" Gabbana wrote on his account. "We were foolish and ignorant when we did this. We apologize to the genius #VivienneWestwood because we pay so much attention to his work. " In the photo, she compares a gold choker that says SEX from the designer of her 1989 collection, and next to it the almost identical choker from the 2003 Gabbana collection.
