Chipotle Mexican Grill has had a tough year with health scares of E. Coli and norovirus. In order to redeem itself, the Mexican-food chain launched a loyalty program called Chiptopia.
Chiptopia offers customers free burritos, chips, guacamole, and more based on the amount of paid visits within a given month. It differs from a typical rewards program that is usually based on the amount spend or accumulating points.
The program launches July 1 and will only last for three months but serves as inspiration for a permanent possibility in the future. "While Chiptopia Summer Rewards lasts just three months, we will be carefully listening to our customers and using what we learn as we consider the design of an ongoing rewards program," said Mark Crumpacker, chief creative and development officer at Chipotle.
The three different status levels are Mild, Medium, and Hot. A customer is able to snag up to nine free entrées over the course of the program, said the company in a press statement. Holy Guacamoley!
Interested customers are able to register via a digital card to use from a phone or a physical card that could be retrieved from any Chipotle location.
