9-year-old Boy Accused Of Stabbing Younger Sister

What seemed like an innocent game between two little brothers ended in tragedy when a 9-year-old boy allegedly repeatedly stabbed his 5-year-old sister in a north Florida city.

According to statements by the children's mother, the incident occurred shortly before 5 pm on Monday, January 27, when she left her home to pick up the mail and left them playing in her apartment located in the Berkeley Point complex, in the city of Ocala.

The woman explained that she returned home in about 10 minutes and witnessed how the boy stabbed his little sister several times in the back with a kitchen knife while screaming, "Die, die."

Police reported through their Facebook account that the "juvenile suspect is in custody and the minor victim has been airlifted to a nearby hospital."

According to the affidavit published in People, the mother snatched the knife from her son, who ran away while she checked on her daughter and proceeded to call the 911 emergency number. When police arrived, authorities found the boy hidden in a Maintenance shed near the apartment complex.

Local news reports reported that the girl was awake, in stable condition and able to communicate.

The boy faces charges of attempted first-degree murder. According to detectives, the boy had hurt his sister because "he wanted to be able to get out." They added that the idea had occurred to him two days before the incident.
