Blue Dogs Appear In India

The appearance of blue pigmented dogs in the Bombay area has become a red flag in India; in addition, it has alerted the environmental authorities of the State of Maharastra.

"We have detected around five dogs here," Arati Chauhan, director of the Navi Mombat animal shelter, told the local Hindustan Times newspaper. "It was awful to see how the dog's white fur had turned completely blue."

According to research, the cause of this strange canine phenomenon is due to the high levels of contamination that the country suffers.

In view of this, this organization filed a complaint with the local Pollution Control Board, where it named as direct responsible the 977 companies and factories of chemical, pharmaceutical, engineering and food processing products, which are located in the industrial zone of Taloja, because they dump chemical waste into the Kasadi river.

Investigations found that the dogs turned blue, after searching for food at a factory that uses blue dye to make detergents; therefore, this company has been ordered to clean the affected area and remove the tincture.

Meanwhile, Chauhan has reported, through his Facebook account, that the affected dogs are recovering their original skin color thanks to rainwater; however, they still maintain the eye infection.

“This is the reality in each industrial zone. You need to be aware, he wrote.

Arati Chauhan warned that the risk is not only for animals, but also for the more than 76,000 people who work in these companies and their families.
