The death of two 2 and 3 year old brothers who died this Monday in the Bronx was a murder. This was confirmed to People on Tuesday by a source from the New York City Police Department, whenever the autopsy of the minors was carried out.
Olivia Gee and, Micah Gee, were rushed to a medical center after their mother's boyfriend found them with respiratory problems in the room of their apartment, located in the Van Cortlandt Park sector, early Monday morning.
Novell Jordon, boyfriend of the children's mother, explained to the authorities that the children had gone to sleep at 8:30 pm and by 1:00 am he had entered their room to see if they were okay.
The individual assures that he found Olivia unconscious, while her little brother showed trouble breathing. Upon giving the mother notice of what was happening, she administered a medication to treat asthma - both children suffered from - and called 911.
The minors were transported to the Montefiore medical center, where they died minutes apart in the early hours of the morning.
After his death, the brothers were reviewed by the medical examiner who dictated that their death had been a homicide, and that the children had been beaten to death.
Suspicions of a crime were raised almost immediately, because at the time of inspecting the minors, wounds were found in the neck of both, as well as in the torso and side of one of them.
According to various sources, Jordon had been questioned in the 50th precinct in the Bronx, but he had not been charged or arrested in connection with the incident. The man was reportedly released and has already requested the help of a lawyer.
In response to the heinous crime, Bill de Blasio, the mayor of New York, sent a statement regretting the deaths and requesting a full investigation.
"Our city mourns the loss of these two little ones in a tragedy that happened on Monday in the Bronx," he said in the document released by the New York Times. “As a parent, I find it very painful to think about the death of these two children and what their family is going through. The NYC Police Department and the Children's Services Administration will continue to investigate the tragedy."
