The heat wave that hits various parts of the world is affecting children and adults. So much so that kids at Exeter Academy in the UK found a creative way to beat the heat: wearing skirts.

The children of the ISCA academy asked permission to modify their uniform due to the high temperatures. But after not being allowed to wear shorts because they "weren't part" of the uniform, about 30 children chose to wear skirts in protest.

"They don't allow us to wear shorts, and I'm not going to sit in pants all day, it's very hot," one of the students told the BBC.

According to what some of the children said, the idea of wearing a skirt came from the director, Aimee Mitchell. Although the little ones did not think she was serious, they carried out the idea in the hope that their institution would change the rules.

The result has been an event that has gone viral and as reported by the BBC, as a result of the protest, the school board indicated that the uniform policy will be reconsidered.

"Shorts are not part of our uniform at the moment and we would not want to make any changes without consulting with our students and their families," said Mitchell. "However, with warmer temperatures approaching, I will gladly consider a change for the future."

The parents of the little ones who started the protest support their children and say they are proud that they are fighting for equal rights.
