The jury members of the television show America's Got Talent (NBC) were in for a tremendous surprise when Mandy Harvey, a deaf woman relentlessly performed a song of her own titled "Try."

"I've been singing since I was four years old," Harvey explained to the judges before starting his performance. "I quit the music after I lost my hearing and managed to figure out how to sing with muscle memory again, using visual tuners and relying on my tone."

"After being deaf I gave up, but I want to do more with my life than that," she added.

The woman then started singing as she played the ukulele. She was barefoot to feel the rhythm through the floor, she explained.

Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell were visibly excited at the young woman's performance, while some people in the audience couldn't control their tears.

"I don't think you need a translator for this," said Cowell, jury leader, before pressing the gold button with which Harvey guaranteed his immediate passage to the quarterfinals of this broadcast.

"I've been doing this for a long time. That was one of the most impressive performances I've ever seen and heard, "the producer commented. "Honestly, I doubted he would ever surprise or impress me again, but then you showed up."

“It was your voice, your tone, the song was beautiful. Congratulations, you went straight to the live performances,”Cowell concluded.

Mandy Harvey lost her hearing at 18 years old and composed the song she played to reference her recovery.
