It might seem like a joke, but it is not. A cheeto with a shape similar to the Harambe gorilla's silhouette was sold at an eBay auction on Tuesday for $ 99,900.
The unique item received bids from 132 people during the seven days the auction lasted.
Harambe is the gorilla that was euthanized when a 4-year-old boy fell into his den at the Cincinnati, Ohio, zoo last June. His death generated an intense debate about whether it was necessary to end his life, since for some he never endangered the child and rather protected him
The auction title, "Cheeto - RARE - unique in its kind that looks like the Harambe gorilla", caused a furor in the networks and thousands of spectators were awaiting the final price.
But it was not until the Fat Kid Deals site promoted the sale on Twitter to its more than 86,000 followers that the auction went viral and the price of the piece began to rise from the $ 11.99 that was requested by the cheeto at that time.
The seller who got the luscious final price is a Burbank, CA user who used the account name valuestampsinc.
Its success in selling this unique cheeto seems to have generated a trend, since a good number of auctions with similar items have been created since then.
