Life is terrifying right now for Sherri Papini, the Californian mother who mysteriously disappeared for 22 days after her routine run out and reappeared on Thanksgiving morning drifting from a chained and beaten highway.
"When the lights go out, the doors close, when she hears certain sounds, it's something I still don't know how to handle and we will need someone who can help her from a professional point of view," said her husband Keith in an interview with Matt Gutman. in the 20/20 program. "It is not just a long way, it is something that we will never forget."
Sherri, 34, Keith, and her children Tyler, 4, and Violeta, 2, now live in a secret location to safeguard the young woman's privacy and enable her physical and, above all, psychological healing.
For their part, Police are searching for two women of Hispanic origin, armed and driving a black van, according to the County Sherrif, Tom Bosenko. Both Keith and Sherri think the kidnappers are women. "If you were approached by a vehicle with two large guys, would you approach it?" Shares the victim's husband.
On November 2, Sherri's kidnappers drove her in the car for two and a half hours without actually seeing their faces. “They were completely covered. There were weapons, "said Keith on that television show. "It was literally hell for her."
But definitely the most emotional moment of all was opening the curtain and seeing her there, back home, although not in the best conditions. “Her poor little face, I hugged her and held her in my arms. I think I had her in my arms for about 20 minutes. It made me nauseous seeing her like this,”Keith continued. "The bruises were very strong, she had blows from being mistreated, kicked and that was very difficult to see."
To this day and with more tranquility, Keith says he still feels uneasy when he knows that those responsible for such aberration are still on the loose. "But my family is with me now. I am happy that my wife is back. I no longer have to raise my children without her, "he confessed excitedly.
And in turn the little ones are delighted to have Mommy at home. When they met her, she couldn't help crying. "Tyler said to Sherri, 'You don't cry when you're happy,' to which my wife replied, 'When you're so happy, you do cry.'"
