New York has been shocked by the tragic murder of a 16-year-old boy who was stabbed to death outside a shopping center on Long Island in broad daylight. Incredibly, the boy died in front of more than 50 boys who, instead of helping him, dedicated themselves to recording his death with their cell phones.

The chilling incident occurred on Monday outside Mario's pizzeria, in a shopping center in the town of Oceanside, Nassau County. According to police reports around 3:45 pm, a massive brawl broke out in which between 50 and 70 boys participated.

There, 16-year-old Khaseen Morris, who was dying, remained in the parking lot of the premises in front of the cameras of his colleagues who left him lying there and recorded him without giving him any help.

According to the police, the fight would have been sparked by an argument over who was dating a girl. The girl was not present at the crime scene, according to The New York Post. One more young woman was injured and had a broken arm.

"The boys just stayed there and did not help Khaseen," stunned Stephen Fitzpatrick, a Nassau County Police Lieutenant and head of the homicide department, told the NewsDay newspaper. "Better they devoted themselves to making a video [of his death]. They recorded this instead of helping him."

"He was suffering so much," Keynna Morris, 30, the victim's sister, said in tears over one of the videos showing her younger brother as he bled to death on the pavement. The videos of his death began to circulate almost immediately on social networks, including SnapChat.

"He was so happy at school," said Keyanna Morris, the boy's broken mother, for his part. "I was delighted. He came home and said to me like 'I made a lot of friends, everyone loves me,'”said the woman, who tragically revealed that her son was about to turn 17.

For his part this Thursday the Oceanside police confirmed that in his custody was Tyler Flach, 18, who was arrested as the main suspect in the crime. The boy will be prosecuted earlier today and is expected to face second-degree murder charges.

Khaseen's family opened a GoFundMe account to request help for the cost of their funerals. Rest in peace.
